How do you lighten up a dark video?

I didn't have correct lighting for my video and it tuned out dark, is there software that will lighten it?

  Not really. You can't create light where there was no light. You can increase the brightness and gamma levels, but it will look like crap....very grainy. Also, it really depend on how dark your image is. If it's kind of dark and you can make out what's happening with no problem, then try to raise it. If it's really dark and you have a hard time seeing what's going on, then reshoot it. Whatever software you're using to capture and edit the footage should have some brightness and gamma levels you can play with.
