How do you take video footage from a camcorder and upload it onto a computer?

  • How do you take video footage from a panasonic PV-GS200 camcorder and upload it onto a computer? It only allows still pictures and video recorded onto the SD drive to be uploaded through the usb cord. I want to take footage off of a dvc cassette and upload it onto my computer.

That depends what your camera has for an output, firewire is generally the best.

I can't answer your specific question but video is usually only transfered through firewire and be certain to have enough HD space like downloading to seperate drive, like a Lacie or similar.

You may need to buy a new video card for your computer that has AV cables.... that's what we just did (45.00 from newegg.com - radeon is the brand). Then you just hook up the av cables to your computers new av ports, and the software that comes with the new video card will allow you to save your memories onto the computer. You can also see if your camcorder has Svideo out, if so, check to see if your computer has S video in.
