What's the best full size dvd camcorder?

Is dvd the same as mini dvd?

  • iv bought a dvd camcorder online and i made sure it was a dvd camcorder so i could watch it on my dvd player after recording, it has just arrived and the disc space is to small to take standard size discs ,,so do i have a mini dvd camcorder or just dvd camcorder like it says on the side of the box, it dos'nt mention mini dvd camcorder anywhere on the box or the camcorder itself.

    NO - a normal DVD is 12cm diam - a mini-DVD is 8cm diam - but very very few camcorders take full size DVDs - it would just makes the whole camcorder to big - they virtually all use the 8cm 'mini-DVD'. manufacturers do not normally differentiate between the two types and do describe camcorders that take mini-DVDs as just DVD. BUT - that is not a problem - unless you have a very very old DVD player you can put the mini-DVD in your player and it will play OK. check the DVD tray it will have a mini-DVD recess. All computers will also accept and play them - all desktops have a recess in the DVD tray take the small disc - depending on what laptop you will either hav a recess or the DVD will be centre spindle mounted - so again no problem. you should have no problem playing the mini-DVD any where. ....

They are all minidvd camcorders and you can only use minidvd's in a top loading player/burner.
