What causes choppy playback when editing video in pinnacle even though no frames were dropped during capture?
-
I am able to capture video with no frames dropped. But, when I view the video in edit mode using pinnacle studio, the playback is very choppy. It is almost a strobe effect where the video just flashes. It is not a smooth playback. I get a message when I open pinnacle stating something about updating my intel graphics driver, but the message is cryptic and I can't figure out what intel driver to download off of intel.com. Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks.

Answer:
okay, I have a dazzle capture card, and I sometimes have choppiness issues as well. for updating the driver, try this. start menu{ control panel{ System (you may need to switch to classic view to see it){click on the hardware tab{ device manager{ go down the list until you get to "display adapters"{ it should show your intel graphics card with the model number. {double click on it, and go to the "driver" tab. hit update driver. VIOLA! if this doesn't help, you can use the model number that it showed to find support on the intel website. if you fix the graphics card, and it still is choppy, you either need a faster CPU, more RAM, a Faster HDD (try defraging the hdd), or a better graphics card. For serious video capture and stuff, I reccomend 1GB of RAM, a 3Ghz CPU, a 80GB+ Hard drive 7200 RPM or faster. hope this helped!!

I has some problems with it. Probably a slow computer or slow video card. Maybe it's time to upgrade or add memory or get a new card with more memory. ALso hows your hard drive space. What Pinnacle does is makes clone copies of the video and puts them in files and links them together until you render a new AVI file.

This is due to the fact that your computer is not powerful enough. The video will be fine once you render it out. However, for smoother playback and editing, consider getting some extra RAM and perhaps a new video card as well, if you have the money. Hope this helps!

It's telling you that your computer can't handle the graphics well enough to play the video as it should be. In other words, you need a new graphics card.
