What is the best and decent camcorder for under $300? Is the Sony Handycam DCR-HC28 any good?

I want to be a filmmaker and I use the sony handycam. It works pretty good. The only problem is when you transfer the video to you hard drive to edit there is some image quality loss. The sound works great if you only have close up shots when the actors speak but otherwise okay. The best are the hard drive cameras. That's what I'm getting soon. It films in high definition and you can attach a boom microphone to it with extra filters and lenses. And depens on what you get they are between $250 and $1,200. Just remmeber in electronics you usually get what you pay for. The higher the price the better it is. Hope this helps.
