How can I get my camcorder out of safe mode?

Can anyone help me with my DV camcorder?

  • Hello! Just recently I purchased a JVC GR-D370U. I have no troubles with it except I do not know how to exactly transfer video from my camcorder to my PC. For some reason, the USB cord will only read the still photos taken with the camera (Memory Card mode) and not the DV (Video mode.) The camcorder is unable to save video format to the memory card so it can not be put onto my computer. Is there any other wire/program I need to purchase in order to get my computer to read the video?

  • Answer:

You need an IEEE 1394 cord to transfer videos onto your computer.

If it has a tape or CD, you should be able to play the tape back while hooked to the PC and have the PC record it to the hard drive or a folder of your choice. You should also be able to catch LIVE video by having it hooked to the PC. This way, your cameras memeory would not be an issue.

USB is for still pictures. FIREWIRE or IEEE 1394 is for DV. If your PC does not have a Firewire port already, it's probably not worth adding the capability - not enough disk space, not enough memory, not enough processor. Buy a new one; a really big new one with Firewire. The moronic sales robots at most electronics stores don't tell you about this.
