Is it better to completely drain my rechargeable batteries every time?

My Flip camera drains batteries really fast?

  • I have an UltraHD Flip camera, and I'd gotten it somewhat recently. Within the past year and a half or so. It worked really well when I first got it, and the battery was decent. But like a month ago I had used it for the first time in a while, but the batteries randomly drain REALLY fast regardless of changing them or not. I can really only use it for 5-10 minutes before I get the low battery warning and it dies probably in the next three. Any explanations and/or solutions to this problem?

  • Answer:

you are suffering the famous battery issues that the Flip camcorder has. People who sell these camcorder, failed to tell the purchasers of these, that plugging a uncharged, still having power, not dead battery, into a charger, which you folks did every time you plugged that camcorder into a USB to transfer footage to your computer, would kill the rechargeable battery, over time. You need to get a new battery. you will have to replace it again in the future. Have fun with your recurring battery problem Flip camcoreder

What! a <$100 camera has PROBLEMS! Cine cameras are $20,000 to over $100,000. No one expects you to get one of these. Pro cameras are $3500 to $10,000. No one expects you to get one of these either, although if you took your craft seriously, you would likely have one. HD camcorders that do a fair job, especially if restricted to small screens run from $350-$2000. Below that you get poor data rates, cheap battery chemistry and/or quality, plastic lenses, minimal features and inefficient power management (see Pall's info on batteries). But down to $250 some degree of reasonable performance can be had from real camera brands. Below that, there is rubbish, pure unadulterated trash. The performance of a Flip is so close to the performance of a decent cell phone camera that I am in sheer astonishment anyone buys one. Solution to the problem: Properly recycle or dispose of it according to local recommendations. If you NEED a video camera, get a proper camera. If you wish to record rubbish because everyone else does, just use your cell phone. Flippin flip cameras...#%$&^*&(%^&$ (wanders off mumbling...)
