How can I transfer video from tapes to my computer?

I Have 8mm video camcorder how can i transfer my video cassete tapes to my computer?

  • most sites is saying connect threw a firewire but when i look at mycamera..i doesnt see a place where it can connect to the computer? can anyone help me and i have a dell dimension 3000 with no firewire built in

I have the same problem. yes u need a firewire cable. if ur computer doesn't have a firewire input u have to buy a firewire card aka board they cost $20 & up u can find them at walmart online or compusa. Then u have to install it into ur dell. Make sure all computer plugs are un pluged, un swrew the back of ur computer, place the firewire card into the slot and swrew the computer back up, or compusa will do it for about $30. U plug ur firewire cable into ur DV input on ur camcorder. Hope I helped.

You're 8mm probably doesn't have an Firewire port built into it. The best way to do this is to user the composite video cables (they should have come with the camera - the same ones you connect to your TV) and buy a Video dongle (usually USB). 8mm doesn't support firewire. You need a Pinnacle or Dazzle analog capture card with yellow, red and white RCA and S-Video connectors.

you don't have fire wire because your camera is not digital .Get professional services or the other option is a digital VCR to go thru but you still don't have fire wire on your laptop. How i said before get professional services
