What is a good software to edit video?

What is a good video camera editing software for a beginer. I would like to edit my home movies?

  • I dont want to do anything fancy just yet. I just want to be able to put the good bits together. What programme will allow me to do this and how do i transfer the film into my pc to use? Never done this before.

    What sort of camcorder are you using- make and model number? Also, are you using a Windows PC or a Mac? Different sorts of camcorders record in different ways, so their footage has to be captured in different ways. If it's compatible, Windows Movie Maker is fine to get you started and it's already included with Windows XP and Vista. If you've got a Mac, iMovie is included.
