Why can't I get my videos to show up in Windows Movie Maker?

How to I get videos to show up on windows movie maker?

  • I have a Cannon Powershot camera. Whenever I take videos on it, and try to transfer it to my Windows Vista laptop, it only shows up on Quicktime, and I won't be able to transfer the videos to any media editing software. Anybody know what the problem is?

  • Answer:

Transcode - convert - the video files to a format MovieMaker can deal with. MPEG StreamClip from www.squared5.com and HandBrake from www.handbrake.fr are both capable transcoders. MovieMaker likes WMV files.

The best fomat for Windows Movie Maker is WMV. camera is video format for most of m2ts, mts,,if you want to edit video ,you had better convert the camera to WMV. If you only need the audio , I think WMA is better choice. Since you only have some videos to convert ,I think you can use the trial version of AVS Video Converter ,it supports mp4 to many format ,including WMV,WMV ,MP3 and ect. Have a try.
