My Kodak Camera videos won't upload to Windows Movie Maker. Whats wrong?

  • I make videos and my new camera's files wont open in windows movie maker and kodak's version sucksss. whats wrong?!?

  • Answer:

As tracy said, windows movie maker does not accept kodak camera mov video directly. You have to change the file extension to wmv, av, mpg, etc. You may try the converting program I am using which can help you to convert kodak video to popular video files as you need, but allows you to adjust video resolution, frame rate, bitrate to maintain the original quality. Read the following tutorial: http://www.kodak-video-converter.com/edit-kodak-camera-video-with-wmm.html If you need, you may evaluate by yourself. Hope it helps u.

Without knowing the name or model number it is hard to say but I would guess that it is in the .mov format that Windows Movie Maker2 cannot use. You'll need to look at the manual or go to Kodak's web site to confirm that. For a test you could go to http://onlineconverter.daniusoft.com/ and upload a test video and convert it into .AVI, that can be read by WMM2. Or you could convert it to wmv. If that works you will have the first part of your answer. You'll need a conversion software. Two of the open source free programs you can try are: http://handbrake.fr/ or http://www.squared5.com for MPEG Streamclip No hidden files, time limits or limitations. Truly free and open source. Here are example videos on how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J_ka9LoSJY very simple demo MAC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOnLOu3joWM

You kodak records video in MOV formats that can't be recognized by windows movie maker, TO open it, you should convert them to windows movie maker suported AVI, WMV, MPEG format.

Sometimes it records in a format that WMM does not recognize. To change the format, go to www.zamzar.com and select a format that WMM recognizes. Zamzar is free all you have to do is put in your email.
