How can I put videos onto windows movie maker?

  • I uploaded the videos from my camera onto my compute. then when I drag the videos to windows movie maker it says it can not be imported. can some one tell me how to put the video in windows movie maker??? please =)

  • Answer:

Info on WMM, you will probably have to convert the video before you can use it in WMM. It would be better to invest in some better better editing software like Pinnacle studio 14HD, this program was cheap (40.00 sale) and can read HD files or most any other video files.. MOVIE MAKER (xp and vista) does not support all file types, not hd, mpeg4, mts, mod, mov or h.264 files. If your camera shoots in those formats you will have to convert to use WMM. Files associated with Windows Movie Maker Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf Vista WMM supports video files asf, avi, dvr-ms, m1v, mp2, mp2v, mpe, mpeg, mpg, mpv2, wm,and wmv Try these free converters http://www.squared5.com http://www.handbrake.fr/ Free players http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ http://www.codecguide.com Windows Live Movie Maker for Vista (this is a new version for Vista) Windows 7 More info here http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker-file-types-faq Video file types (format) File name extensions Windows Media Video (WMV) files .wmv Windows Media files .asf and .wm AVCHD files .m2ts and .m2t Apple QuickTime files .mov and .qt DV?AVI files .avi Microsoft Recorded TV Show files .dvr-ms and .wtv MPEG?4 movie files .mp4, .mov,.m4v, .3gp, .3g2, and .k3g MPEG?2 movie files .mpeg, .mpg, .mpe, .m1v, .mp2, .mpv2, .mod, and .vob MPEG?1 movie files .m1v Motion JPEG files .avi and .mov

I'm pretty sure that there's a link kind of thing at the left hand side (after you open it up) that says 'import video'. Try that and hopefully it should work. Good Luck :)))

I suggest that you obtain a better editor, one that will handle the files from your camera.
