How do i open my videos from a dvd -rw disc on my computer?

Transfer Handycam DVD to Computer?

  • This is driving me insane!!! I have tried just about everything to get the files from my dvd to my computer and nothing works!! I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD108. Whenever I connect my camera via USB to my computer or I insert my DVD-RW into my disk drive the folder shows up as DVD_RTAV (which is not what it says should appear on Sony's Website guide). I understand the dvd must be transfered using a special software (which is bull****! If I needed a special software, Sony should've given it to me with the camera!!) Handbrake does not work for me as it says there are no files on the disc compatible with the software. Any hellp is appreciated! I just want to be able to get the videos off my VR disc to my compute so I can upload them to Youtube. Thank You!

    With non dvd-rw's you have to finalize and convert the files with a file converter program such as handbrake (free download). I'm not sure if rewritable discs can be finalized (I thought I read somewhere that they can't be finalized) in any case you have to convert it. Wouldn't it be nice if the computer and camcorder company's would make things a lot easier for us?
