What is the best format for a camcorder?

Which Camcorder format is best for me?

  • I want to buy a camcorder for under £400. I'm not sure which format to go for, Mini DV, DVD or HDD. I don't want to do a massive amount of editing after recording and need to condsider the pro's and cons of each sort. Also what connections to my pc or TV would you consider a "must have"

  • Answer:

I'd go with a Mini DV or HDD. I really don't like those direct to dvd ones because they go through DVD's really fast. Then again, if you don't want to do a lot of editing after recording, you might want to try one of them. It all depends on exactly what you want to do with it. I make simple little home videos with mine and do a lot of editing. I use a Mini DV. I've never tried a HDD. You have to have a firewire and a usb for your PC.
