Whats a good camcorder to get?

When jvc camcorder is on it flashes "lens cap" is on when it isn't. I can't get a picture. Whats wrong?

  • jvc gr-d53 lens cap flashes when turn on camcorder but cannot get a picture. Camcorder seems otherwise fine.

  • Answer:

This symptom usually indicates a failure of the CCD sensor. This is a fairly common problem with this series of JVC camcorders. The equivalent US models are covered by a special warranty since the failure was due to a batch of defective (Sony made) sensors. JVC does not advertise the special warranty program for the US models though and I have no idea whether it is offered elsewhere. The link below shows the models covered by the special warranty in the US. Maybe you can use this info as ammunition to get JVC to pony up a free repair for you. Good luck! WK

Hmm, try resetting the functions. It might be sensing it wrongly.

I hate to say this, but as far as I'm concerned "JVC" stands for "JAP VIDEO CRAP"... I've never had a piece of JVC equipment that I thought was anything but a piece of junk. That being said, it sounds like your electronic lens cap is stuck on for whatever reason.
