What Editing Software is compatible with Sony handycam?

What video editing software should I use for my Sony Hanycam video?

  • Okay I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SX65 and I like editing my videos and putting extra audio effects and music in them. First I downloaded my videos to my Dell Inspiron Mini Netbook with Windows 7 and then tried to import their video directly to Windows Movie Maker 2.6, well that didn't work because the videos were the wrong file type. Then I put the video files into Format Factory and tried to convert their file types to WMV. then import them into Movie Maker and it worked. Then I finished my whole video and tried to save it all to WMV. in Movie Maker but it didn't work! So then I downloaded PMB from the disc I got with my camera and uploaded the videos into that but with PMB you can't add extra audio and music to videos so I had to put it in Movie Maker. So I saved it in PMB and then imported that video into Movie Maker and then edited that and then tried to save it and again it didn't save! What do I do? What video editing software do I use? Or can you put extra audio into PMB?

  • Answer:

I recommend Sony Vegas products: http://sonyvegaspro.org (MoviEZ HD and Vegas Movie Studio for beginners, Vegas Pro for advanced users and professionals) Also take a look at these video editors for home users: Movavi Video Editor - http://videoeditor.movavi.org AVS Video Editor - http://avs-video-suite.org free download, support all key video formats, many filters, transitions and special effects, easy to use and inexpensive

You have Mini Net book, your not going to be doing any serious video editing on that tiny, low powered thing. An HD NLE, that can handle HD footage with no problem takes a computer with a 4 core processor chip, a 1 GB graphics card and a sound card, both of those devices have to support Direct X 9 or better. Those are the specs the program needs to work properly

Palladini

For basic editing, AVS Video Editor is a great choice: It's also free trial, so that's always nice.

iMovie is the best free one hands down. Final Cut Pro is the best pro one hands down. Movie maker is garbage. try sony vegas since you have a PC.

If You have around £2000 Get after effects and premier pro They are the best available if on a low budget go for sony vegas 10 it is the same but with less flexibility.
