How do you upload videos from a HDD camcorder?

I need to learn to upload videos from a camcorder to my pc.how do i upload a video off a camcorder to my pc?

    unless i'm mistaken... sony came up with only 1 hi8 model that has usb port (ccdtrv608). anyway, if the model you have has a usb port, install the usb drivers and then connect your camcorder to the computer. make sure you select the option for usb streaming in the menu. from there you can use any video editing software like pinnacle or vegas to capture the videos or you can use windows movie maker if you're using windows xp. if the model that you have doesn't support usb streaming, then the only other option would be to get a video capture card for your computer so you can have input ports for composite video cables (regular rca cables). then setup the software for capturing and playback the tape on your camcorder.

I use software from "Pinnacle." The kit came with a breakout box that connects to a USB 2.0 port on the computer. There are jacks on the breakout box for connecting your camera. This software is pretty cool and you can do some fun editing too. I hope this helps.
