Why can't I see any of the video on yahoo?

Why cant i capture my camcorder video onto my PC?

• ok, ive asked this question once or twice before on Yahoo answers. why cant i capture, or even SEE my camcorder on my PC? Ive built my own PC, i obviously have a graphics card or else i wouldnt see this screen as im typing now. I have a card in the back of my PC with firewire connection. But i still cannot see any video at all. Am i missing something? Do i need something else? a video capture device of some sort? what is it? how much are they? Im going loopy trying to work it out myself without paying some extortionate PC repair shop to charge my £50 to do something that i could probably do myself for about £10. but ive read help sights, and asked other people but i cant work it out. If i have a firewire connection, why do i need anything else? what the hell is going on with my PC? its the reason i built it .. to capture my camcorder! hope someone can help me here... thanks

  Both your camcorder and PC capture have to be compatible - either digital or analog. Analog won't capture digital and vice-versa. Conversion of one signal to another is very expensive. Most video was analog, and is now digital, but there's a lot of exceptions. Sometimes video out on a camcorder is analog, even though it's recorded digitally (!!??) Time to read the manuals.
