Is there a way to lighten a short video?

I did a small video with my camera of me interacting with my pet. It is too dark. Is there any way I can lighten it up on my computer?

You don't say what editing package you are using. I its Windows MM then put your video into the time line and then go to edit. Show video effects then there is on to lighten the video try it once by dragging it to you video, if that's not enough then do it again and repeat If its another one then there will be some thing you can do the same thing. once the video is shot , there is no way to lighten the video without editing it. however in most video editing programs , including movie maker you can add brightness to it , in movie maker in video effects is a brightness increase , drag and drop this onto the affected video , if this still isn't sufficient render the video , drag the rendered video back into your mm selection and render again , until your selection is to your taste. keep in mind if your video was grainy from low light conditions the increase will show this up .
