Hi, There are many video editing software that you can try to suit your needs. In order to select the best for you, check your level of expertise in editing and working with software. Some software tend to be too tedious to use but some are too easy but does not help in any way. One of the things that runs of my head right now is Adobe Premiere. It is a good software to use because there are lots of integrated applications/styles already. The source link will give you an idea of the types of software available for you and the price range. In addition, it gives you an idea about the ease of use and ease of installation as well as the support you get from the manufacturer when the time comes.

You can use Windows Movie Maker - it's free and probably already installed if you're running XP. WMM's a bit basic though - if you want to get into real editing have a look at Sony's Vegas Movie Studio. There are lots of video editors out there, but VMS gives the best bang for the buck (imho, of course!).

While I agree that Windows Movie Maker is an easy program and free on the basic XP install... it lacks many of the bells that other programs have. I have found the Premeire from Adobe provides me everying I could possibly want when doing a movie.

Was up excellent question uh yeah Adobe premiere pro i already preordered the creative suite production 3 $1700 thats all and plus you get adobe ultra(great for chromakey) photoshop, encore, soundbooth, after effects, and much more. also if you want to create lower thirds and other pro graphics then go to www.digitaljuice.com and watch djtv. hope that you could use that and if youre going on the cheap microsoft movie maker on pc or imovie on mac is good free stuff.

Yes but you will need a capture card to pull the video into your computer. One piece of free software you can use is Windows Movie Maker. It allows you to capture and splice the parts you want. A decent capture card runs for about $30 at CompUSA and a really good one runs for $100 and up.

You didn't say what kind of camcorder you have. If it's analog, Frank Z is right and you'll need a capture card. If it's digital, you'll need a firewire input. Pinnacle Studio, Sony Vegas, and Adobe Premiere all have their pros and cons. You should read customer reviews on sites like Amazon.com and decide which suits your needs best.

Vista Media and XP Home come with Movie Maker OS10 comes with iMovie. You need a capture card or firewire from a DV camera to upload.
