I have really old camera recorder tapes, that i have to put into a VHS, and i wud like it on DVD, can u help?

  • Years ago, my friend and I used to make stupid videos and i would like to put them together onto a DVD and edit them for her. I don't have the old school camera anymore, so i just have tapes, which i have to put into a VHS tape to watch. How can i get these onto my computer to edit? If i had them on a modern camera, i could just use a lead, but obv i can't.

You've got an analog camcorder so you'll need an analog / digital converter. Some Digital8/MiniDV camcorders have a passthrough feature which will do this - you connect the AV sockets on the VCR and camcorder and plug the MiniDV camcorder into the PC's firewire port. Failing that, you could try a dedicated converter such as the Kworld DVD Maker, the Pinnacle Dazzle or a generic model you can get it most electronics shops. If you want the best quality, have a look at the Canopus ADVC range.

Your analog camcorder needs to be converted to digital. ANALOG *If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder… or VHS-c... You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert. Anytime you convert analog to digital, you will lose quality, but loss of quality is better than losing all those old memories. **Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape *

You may use the best software I have seen AVS Video Tools. It can convert to/from all key format, upload video or DVD directly to key portables like iPod, Sony PSP, Archos, Zen Creative, and mobiles. It can capture video from DV or webcams, TV tuners, DVB-T, DVB-S, transfer VHS tapes to DVD, remove commercials, edit video, copy and burn DVDs and video files: AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), MP4, WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG 1,2,4, MPG, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, H.263, H.264, RM, DVR-MS. There is the free download link: http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx?sct=aff&ct=regnow&cid=189508 Also, you can search some other ones: http://www.ask.com
