Answer:
There are quite a number of ways you can do it . You could use an analogue capture card in your PC and connect the yellow/red/white RCA connections from your camcorder to it and capture direct as mpeg. You could use an analogue to USB converter like this :- http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/ad02a.... and connect it to your PC via USB although I have to say I have never found one of those that works very well. You could use a digitiser - see here :- http://www.simplydv.co.uk/reviews/av_dig... and convert the output from the camcorder to digital and connect to your PC via firewire. Or if you have a digital camcorder as well quite a few of them (Check the spec) can be used as a digitiser by connecting the VHS to the camera AV input and the firewire output to your PC Which ever option you choose you will also need some sensible capture and editing software on your computer - I would suggest you go and have a look at :- http://www.ulead.com/runme.htm **

If you cannot connect your camcorder directly to your PC with Firewire, or if your PC doesn't have an SVHS input then all is not lost. There are devices which convert analogue signals into digital ones suitable for inputting to PC. They typically cost between £50 and £100, and you get what you pay for! Using the gadget and between your VCR and your PC the software provided will save the video to your hard drive. This is better than relying on Windows to detect the box and some useful editing and noise-removal stuff is also provided with the better boxes. Because of the way that these work you can input to a USB 2 port without too much loss of quality. Don't try it with the older USB 1 though. If your PC is less than 3 years old you will have USB 2. Read the article in the videoforums link below for some background information. Try PC World, John Lewis, Maplin or Terratec.com for starters.

No no no! A USB cable is no good... You need a firewire from your nearest electrical/computer shop. If you are in the UK, i recommend maplins for a firewire. DO NOT ask for a USB lead.

Some interesting answers, however nobody appears to have looked at the spec for your camcorder. I just have! Basically all the answers so far are wrong, simply because your camcorder does not have the required connectors to do what is being suggested. You have two options - Buy a VHS to CD/DVD Copier/Burner. These are available from Electrical retailers but cost quite a lot for what they are. However if you have a large collection of VHS recordings you may think it worthwhile as you will be able to transfer everything to disc. Second option is to bite the bullet and buy a new Camcorder. Modern ones come with firewire/usb connections and the software and leads to connect directly to your PC. Most now record onto a flash memory card, which you can plug into a card reader and download to your PC that way. A good spec new camcorder will cost the same, or less, than a VHS to DVD copier. Take your choice and good luck. The link has the full spec for your camcorder by the way!

You need a USB cable to connect your camcorder to your PC. When you have it, attach your camcorder to your computer and let your operating system detect your camcorder to avoid problems. If it doesn't detect the correct brand and model, you'll need to download the driver from the manufacturer website. Once that is done and installed, you can use any movie editing software (e.g. Windows Movie Maker) to stream the movie from your camcorder to your PC.
