Transfering 8 mm tapes from camcorder to DVD?

For ease of use and sheer simplicity, you might want to consider buying a stand-alone dvd recorder. They're getting less expensive every year and can be used every day when your copy job is done. All you have to do is 8mm cam outputs (composite or s-video and audio) to the corresponding inputs on the recorder. Hit play,camera ..hit record, dvd recorder and you're done. Repeat as necessary. Many dvd recorders allow you to make a basic main menu if you want to break up the dvd into accessible parts You might also think about having it done by a pro if you only have an hour or 2 of material to transfer. I do this work and charge 5.00 per hour of recorded material with a 20.00 minimum. Other companies will charge something similar. So, if you've only got a few hours of 8mm video, it's cheaper and far easier to hire someone then buying a DVD recorder. On the other hand, if you've got a lot of hours then the math might indicate buying a recorder. hope that helps...
