Which is better to buy a camera with a video recorder or a camcorder with a camera?

ive got a cool pix. with video. it used up the memory too fast and the battery went flat if i did videos. fine as a camera. now ive got a camcorder with still shots and i think its the better option. im not sure yet but its looking good. the camcorder has a better zoom and its very easy to use.

A good camcorder will have a still photo capability that is good enough. Also, you can capture frames of video if necessary. A still camera will not produce a video worthy of anything but possibly YouTube. The decision should be based on what is your greater need, Camcorder or still camera. You need to set a budget and look for something in that range. Either way you go, you'll need a video or photo editor. Hi, I own a very good DVD camcorder made by Sony. But the "picture" quality sucks. It only takes pictures at 0.3MP. So it all depends on what you need more. If you need Camera, then go for a 12MP camera, they go for cheap these days. Make sure it records at decent resolutions and go buy a 8GB MMC. a 2GB DVD can hold around 30minutes of HQ video from my camera, so a 8GB card should hold plenty of hours worth. Hope this helps.

Depends what you want to do - if you want to do lots of video-ing , get a camcorder! The video facility on alot of cameras is limited and you'll wish you got a proper camcorder eventually! I bought a new Canon is200 recently and it is brilliant at everything but i am looking to get a seperate camcorder in due course.

camera's with video recording don't really do sound or it is rubbish if they do. so if you want the highest quality in stills and video get a camera and a camcorder seperately.
