What should I look for when buying a digital camcorder?
-
I would like to purchase a good camcorder that is reliable and won't break. I don't know what characterizes a good camcorder. LCD and stuff like that is meaningless to me, cuz i don't know what it is and what the numbers stand for.

What do you want to use it for? What kind of price range? What features do you need it to have? Answers to these questions are essential for us to give an answer that's targeted to you. Most camcorders are good for specific purposes; you just need one that fits YOUR purposes. Give us some idea of how you plan on using it; where and when? What kinds of lighting conditions? Do you want to just be able to play back the raw footage easily, or do you want it to easily work with your computer for editing? Things like that. Price range would also help. There are "toy" camcorders for a few dollars, and there are professional camcorders which can run as high as tens of thousands of dollars. The more specifics you put in your question, the better the responses will be. I promise. EDIT: So...the thumbs-down. What's the deal with that? If you can read someone's mind and recommend a camcorder for someone without them saying exactly what they want, then be my guest.

You should look for one that has digital zooming, because you can't always get close up on the object that you want to take a picture or record. Before you buy, you might want to try it out holding it and making sure that it will be comfortable in your hand. I think that the brand you should buy is either Sony or Canon. I hope this helped you.

I would say you want ease of use over all the bells and whistles that some models come with. I would look into Kodak, they have a line of EasyShare Digital Camera's that are supreme, and they have camcorders as well. Go to thier website, and also know that you are buying quality as well as ease of use. Good luck! Guardianofthemoon
