What is my sony Video Cassette recorder worth?

How to transfer video cassette tape onto computer?

  • So i recorded something with my sony digital video camera recorder but i did it without a memory stick and just a video cassette tape (Hi8MP). is there still a way to transfer the stuff on the cassette tape to my computer? do i even need a memory stick to do this? im so clueless on digital cameras! i read that you can do it w/ a dvd burner or you have to convert it to a dvd (if so what cheap program to use)? i'm not sure about these methods though. :( please help!

  • Answer:

Hi8 camcorders are analog. In order to transfer the video, you need to get an "analog/digital bridge". Connect the camcorder to the AV-cable that cam in the box with the camcorder. The other end of the AV cable connects to the A/D bridge. The A/D bridge connects to your computer. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/ if your computer has only USB; http://canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php if your computer has firewire. Once in your computer, you can edit and burn to a DVD. OR, if you don;t want to edit, you can get a "direct to DVD box - plug the camcorder into it and burn the DVD: http://shop2.outpost.com/product/5199956;jsessionid=UGCzN4Xjua5+ZeCgSYHsbQ**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
