How do I transfer video from camcorder to laptop?

I want to transfer video from my camcorder to laptop.?

HI how can i transfer video from my camcorder to laptop. there is no built in port for IEEE1394 cable to plug in & there is no blank space so i can stick the card in the come,s with IEEE1394 so i can transfer. Apart from this no problem with USB is there is any cable or any other option that i can use Please help.....many thanks

With no port and no expansion slot (PCMCIA or ExpressCard), there is no way to add a firewire (IEEE1394a, DV, i.LINK all the same thing) port. USB-firewire converter adapters will not work. The ONLY way that I can thinik of would be to get an Analog/Digital bridge like http://pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/Family.htm Warning: Video quality will be degraded during the conversion from analog to digital.
