How do I convert a standard DVD to a MOV or MP4 format, using a computer with a built-in DVD player?

  • I have a family home video recorded on a VHS format. already converted the VHS format to DVD using a DVD-R recorder. now using my computer with a DVD player built in to it. how can I convert this DVD to a computer file? One that's small enough to download to any video Tube site. Note: most of these sites only allows a maximum of 100MB per video download Secondary question, if successful converting the video format to a binary language, is there a way to edit the overall length of this 35 min video to just 3 minutes?
