How do I burn Camcorder Video without a PC?

How do I transfer video from a DV camcorder to a pc to burn a dvd without loss of quality?

  • I have been able to transfer images using windows software but the quality is very poor and I want to be able to play back the DVD on a DVD player with TV in high quality.

  • Answer:

Make sure you have a firewire port on your computer. If not, go out and buy a firewire card. Then purchase a firewire cord. plug your camera into the firewire port using the firewire cord, boot up your video editing software (I use Adobe Premiere, personally. Final Cut Pro is the best to use if you're running a Mac), and capture your footage. Edit your footage if you'd like and all that stuff, and then export the video to your desktop. You'll then have the same quality of what you shot in one file.

Get yourself a copy of Pinnacle Studio and a firewire connection. Load your DV onto your PC via the firewire. Do your edits. When you write/copmile your masterpiece make sure to check the output setting - mpeg1/2/4, avi, etc. you'll get great results.

If you connect your digital camcorder to your PC using a firewire cable, then there will be no loss of picture quality. The pictures you are looking at on the windows software is not how it will look when it is on a DVD and watching on the TV. Pete www.thedvdworkshopsite.com

i think your talking about windows movie maker. when you transfer your footage to your computer, it still retains its original quality, but when your editing in movie maker and you play it back, it is low-res for performance reasons and its there just to give you an idea of what your edit will look like, not so you can watch. after you actually export the movie and burn it to dvd, there will be quality loss, but this is unavoidable, obviously, and since your starting out with high quality DV footage, it will still look "high quality" on your tv. hope this helps! BTW, export as a high quality WMV file, then burn using Nero (www.nero.com) or similar program. movie maker doesnt actually burn DVDs, only CDs.
