How do i transfer my DVD on to my computer?

How Can I transfer DV video to DVD without a computer?

  • I purchased a DV cam a while back. I loved the video quality. I wasn't able to transfer the video from a DV tape to a DVD though. When I installed the software, it said that continuing could cause a vatal error. I didn't want to have to buy a new computer, so I decided not to install it. I want to buy a DV cam again, but I am concerned there will be no way for me to get the video onto a DVD player. I have a Panasonic plasma screen tv and a DVD-VHS recorder, it is an Emerson EWR20V4. Is there anyway that I could transfer the video to a DVD without having to use my computer? I have no need to edit or anything like that. I just want to be able to play the tapes without having to use the camera so I don't wear it out too fast. I have had four VHS-C cameras in the past 5 years and I am tired of replacing them. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your simplest solution is this... Since you have a DVD recorder / VHS recorder, you should be able to hook your DV camcorder directly through the S-Video or regular RCA (Video) hook-ups. Most DV camcorders have an A/V output on the side and also come with a special cable. The cable looks like it has a mini stereo jack on one end and splits into 3 RCA (Video, Left Audio, Right Audio) plugs. Sometimes you may also find an S-Video plug on the camcorder as well. Use the S-Video out of the DV Camera to plug into the S-Video on the back of the Emerson EWR20V4. S-Video gives you the best picture quality. Plug only the audio out plugs (generally white[left] and red[right])on the A/V cable to the same color plugs on the back of the Emerson EWR20V4. I'm not sure if you will have to set the imput on the DVD recorder (Video1 or Video2), but you should be able to record directly from the DV camcorder. I checked the specs on the Emerson EWR20V4 and found it did not have a built in "Firewire" plug, so this should allow you to record directly to DVD. I hope this helps and that my info was accurate. Good Luck.
