Blue static on computer screen?

What do I do? My computer just got the blue screen.?

  • Before blue screen: I uninstalled kaspersky internet security (full uninstall) [I think this is when my computer started having problems]. It worked, but noticed some weird things happening. 3 days after the uninstallation of kaspersky, I accidentally hit the off button on my power surge while my computer was on. A day after that, my computer kept using 3% - 0% of my RAM and would freeze for 10+minutes often. It started giving me a Status: 0xc0000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured. I did some research and a lot of people said my hard drive was going bad. After a few attempts of running my computer (computer couldn't find the hard drive to run), I used chkdsk /f in the command prompt on my C: drive and then ran my computer in safe mode to try and get some important files off my hard drive. It worked fine in safe mode for about 10min (I got about 2gb data onto my flash drive) and then it blue screen'd. I'm using a.. I still have many files that I need for college on there. Do you know what the problem with my computer is? Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks for all the help.

**Updated** As already stated Status: 0xc0000e9 is an input/output error and does indeed suggest a problem with hard drive and therefore access to boot manager. It is possible that the hard drive is failing even if chkdsk finds no errors. I suggest you use a S.M.A.R.T utility to monitor your hard disks health for a few days and if that finds no problems then open the system case and try re-seating the RAM modules one by one and run the machine for a few days on a single module to rule out RAM problem. You can use this free version S.M.A.R.T utility to monitor your drives health : http://www.ntfs.com/disk-monitor.htm **** Download the BSOD utility from Nirsoft to help you see exactly what is causing the Blue screens: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html Status: 0xc0000e9 is an input/output error and does indeed suggest a problem with hard drive. More specifically that boot manager cannot be accessed. Thst is why ypu have seen errors on not finding the hard drive. Use the free utility above to get details of the exact files involved and to help you troubleshoot and then you can search from more focused advice on the web. It is likely your hard disk is failing and will need to be repalced. But check first that all the power and data cables are attached correclty before you buy a new disk and re-insatll windows
