What is the internet 2?

Other than Norton Internet Security 2008 software, what other program is there 2 stop severe pop up & spyware?

  • I have a 5 year old HP Pavilion a630n desktop and I just recently got internet acess on this computer. I was using fine for about 3 months and now all of a sudden I get a whole slew of pop-ups that I don't want to see or deal with. I got Norton Internet Security 2008 software package & still I get spyware & very adult oriented pop ups. I tried going through the Tools=> Internet Options=>Security Tab option to clean up & permanently REMOVE each pop up that my poor old computer gets inundated with.

  • Answer:

Use spybot s&d http://www.safer-networking.org/ and superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com Install them, update them, and run complete scans with both. Do this regularly about once a fortnight to clean out any crap you've picked up along the way.. And to get less spyware/adware in the first place, install mcAfee siteadvisor: http://www.siteadvisor.com (make sure to get the free version) Then simply don't go to the sites marked with a red 'x' in your google/yahoo search results, because they are sites that may harm your pc (such as installing adware, spyware, viruses, trojans etc)If this doesn't fix your problem, go to any one of these forums: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com http://www.malwareremoval.com Register there and make a new post in the forum. The people there are trained experts who will help you get rid of any infection for free. (Note, pick one forum, don't make posts on more than one as it ties up professionals who could be helping others. You will get great help at either one of these forums) You can post at one of those forums every time you have an infection which you can't get rid of. All the programs I have listed are free. Don't use ad-aware. I used to use it myself, but it now comes bundled with the 'ask toolbar' which is considered spyware. Shame, I know...
