How to write a program to monitor the temperature of CPU?

Ahh CPU reading 128C Temperature?

  • My cpu was recently hitting around 50-60c whereas it usually operates around 36-44c (idle) ...anyways I removed the fan and removed some old thermal paste ...added some new paste.....secured the fan (double checked the fan was secured).... the bios monitor is telling me the the system temp is around 28c (start up) *great!* BUT the monitor is reporting my cpu temp at 128c!! although its not changing the temp at all, but it's properly showing the system temps change....so I checked if I put to much therm paste..re-applied with less. Took out the mobo to ensure the fan was secure and still the bios is reading this exact 128c! Is there a way to reset the temp sensor? I tried defaulting the bios..I'm thinking next remove the cmos battery and put back in..... I allowed the system to boot and the "Speccy" program reported my cpu and system at low 40's....so either the bios is wrong or the program is wrong... (Im thinking bios because I know the system is not at 28c) Anyways wanted a second opinion - sorry if the explanation was a bit long - thank you!

  • Answer:

I suspect that it is just misreporting the temperature in one of the sensors. When a sensor is faulty the only way to fix it is to replace it, which means replacing the motherboard. As long as your real temp is stable in the 40s, I would not worry about it.

something is wrong with your sensor, processor would melt at 128C, or at least, would start avalanchic breakdown, and the base of theprocessor would melt for sure. so if your computer is still running, the indicated temperature is not right

there would be no processor or motherboard left if it was that hot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG0sGugsv28&feature=related
