Why can't I install PC game?

Im trying to play an old PC game, and my computer will not run?? Or install the game? help? ?

  • The game is called : COMANCHE 4 My PC has Windows Vista.. lol please excuse my computer knowledge (or lack of it)..but can someone! Please tell me how to play this game!!! i just want to take a trip down memory lane, but my computer is acting weird..Im not sure on what to do really? When i put the disc in, nothing appered on the moniter screen, no information, no game menu to install the game? So after waiting a while, I clicked on 'My Computer' and the disc COMANCHE 4 was under the heading 'Devices with removable Storage (1)' It said on the game icon, '0 bytes free of 654MB' what does this mean?!!! I right clicked on the icon and it said "run or install program"..so i did..but nothing happened... and i right clicked again, then clicked on autoplay..two options came up, saying "Run autorun.exe" and the second option was "Open folder to view files"?? Wth do i have to do, to just play a game!!!!?????? lol pls help?

  • Answer:

Use the Autorun Exe. If that don't work it means the game is not supported by your operating system and is too old. PS: the 0 bytes free of 645 is saying the disk that the game is on is filled up with the game program and no data can be added. PS: Windows XP was the last system to support Comanche 4. If you have vista you can always try to turn vistas windows XP emulator on and see if it will play.

This answer is probably not going to get your vote as it may be above your head. Otherwise, you wouldn't be asking this question. Anyway, download and install VirtualBox on your Vista OS: http://www.virtualbox.org/ When VirtualBox is set up, install a guest operating system that you know can run that Comanche 4 game. I suppose it's Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. After installing the required OS in the virtual machine, install the game and enjoy! Oh, another option is to do a dual-boot of Vista and XP on separate partitions and install your old programs on XP.

Simply RED

1) "So after waiting a while, I clicked on 'My Computer' and" Autoplay is probably disabled in vista. 2) "It said on the game icon, '0 bytes free of 654MB' what does this mean?!!!" It means the CD is full (No space left) 3) You need to Run the Setup or autorun.exe You may need to right click the setup.exe hit properties.. Hit the Compatability tab, Select Win XP/ 98 / 95 (Which ever works) After setting it to run in compatability mode.. Run the setup.exe.. If it works.. After instaled the game (Put it in the same compatability) Hope it helps :)
