How can I quickly delete all of the items I have bookmarked in the "favourites" file on my computer?

try to press Shift and the key with the arrow that goes down and when all items that i want to delete r highlighted on the mouse click right and where it appears the word "delete" click there and then all items will delete

You can delete all favorites instantaniously. Using Windows explorer, navigate to the favorite folder (located in WinXP at c:\documents and settings\"username"\favorites), where "username" is the name of the user who is currently logged in. Display the contents of the favorites folder in the right pane of the window. Select the favorites you want to delete by cntrl-clicking on each one, and hit the delete key. All the selected favorites will be deleted. If you are using windows 9X, the same action applies, but the favorites folder will be located at c:\windows\favorites. Good luck, hope this helps....
