Is Kazaa really free?

Has anyone picked up infections from a free music sight called Kazaa? I had eighteen infections (Virus?)?

  • I have only been on a computer for two weeks and I had to have someone clean it out. Even through the control panel it can not be found to remove from the system. I try to get rid of other attachments (best bargains?), but I'm told I can not get rid of them. I had a new spy-ware installed and now my system seems virus free & my computer is up to speed. It's seems if you downloaded them recently there is a BIG PROBLEM. I was told not to deal with them at all.

    Yeah kazaa s.uck, it has all this spyware and ad on, third party programs, its a disaster, smart advice you got, just leave that thing dont mess with it, now you can use limewire (www.limewire.com)its much safer, just keep your anti-virus updated and get an antispyware program, limewire its pretty safe just don run any .exe files and youll be fine

quite a few actually. try limewire instead and make sure you have a good virus program.

Never, Because I have two firewalls installed local and external. Any suspicious attack has been blocked and reported to me. Now it is up to me either allow it or not. So I am safe enough I think... Use McAfee Internet Suite Better than PCcillin and Avast

Yeah, the internet community at large has been aware of that for quite some time, hehe. It's really not Kazaa's fault, mind you. They have absolutely no control over what people are sharing. Here's a tip: stay away from wmv and wma files and such. They can have some pretty nasty code imbedded in them. Mp3 files cannot.

DO NOT GET THAT! IT WILL PUT ADWARE ON YOUR PC TOO THE MAX! I suggestr you use limewire or itunes to get your musc... they dont put adware on your computer. But be warned, some of the files may be tainted and carry a virus. If it it is an executable file (if it ends in ".exe") it may contain one.

ok - Kazaa is not a free music site, it is a site that allows for the download of copyright music for no charge - they do this by setting up spyware and adware in their program so they can make money by you getting their program and getting flooded by ads for products. not recommended if you are in the US because the court system there is actively suing anybody who is caught downloading music without paying for it.
