Why can't I change my default picture?

I have Windows XP on my work computer - I need to change the default for picture viewing ?

• Every time I receive a picture or download a picture, it opens in Nero PhotoSnap Viewer. Even if someone puts a picture into "my documents" that is on our network, and that picture was in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, it only opens in Nero when I open it. Somewhere there has to be a way to change the default for that. I've looked in the start menu under "Set Program Access and Defaults" and I don't see it. I can change the default for the web browser and media player and lots of other things, but I don't see anything for "picture viewer" or whatever It might be called. Can anybody tell me where to go on my computer to change this setting ?? Thanks

• Answer:

  Right-click on a picture & go down to Properties. Where it says "Opens With" click on the "Change" button, choose Windows Picture & Fax Viewer then put a check in the box next to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". Click OK, then in the Properties click Apply & OK.
