How to get in to Safe Mode and get out of Safe Mode using Windows XP?
-
Is it true that it is better to do scanning and defrag in Safe Mode ?
-
Answer:
To get into Safe Mode, press F8 while the computer is still booting; though this may vary. To get out, just shut down normally. Scanning and defragmenting in safe mode allows you to see if certain functions that would normally be loaded during boot. For example, if you had a virus-infected program, but didn't know what program that was, you could run a scan in safe mode to tell if that virus affected system files, or just programs that load at startup.
