How do you add accent marks on the computer?

Is there a way to get my computer to type French accent marks?

  • ...without losing other characters on the keyboard? If I do or don't lose other characters, I'd like to configure the French accent marks. Any help appreciated.

  • Answer:

If you have Windows, go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, then character map, it will have any accent you need.

you mean stuff like: èõßăü? if you click Start, then RUN. type in Charmap hit enter... click on the letter you want, and if you notice in the bottom right hand corner, it will say Keystroke... this means you can use your keyboard to get the letters without this program. they usually say Alt+####... this means you Hold down the alt key, use a number pad (not on a laptop) type in the 3 - 4 numbers and release the alt key... there you go... example, hold down ALT, type 658, release ALT, the you should have a little A E guy.... you have to install a french virtual keyboard and then you can type as in a french kyeboard. The difference is that you have to memorize specific letters as your keyboard is in english. Another option is to buy a french keyboard
