What is the difference between a DVD-R &DVD RW (D)?

Is there a difference between dvd-r/rw and dvd-rw?

  • im trying to burn some films and my computers telling me i need a dvd-r/rw, when i go to look for it in the shops the nearest i can find is dvd-rw, is a dvd-r/rw and a dvd-rw the same thing?

  • Answer:

Your computer is simply telling you that you can either burn a Recordable DVD or a Rewritable DVD on the drive. So you are free to use any of the 2 types, i.e. a one-time Recordable or multi-time Rewritable DVD. Go ahead and buy the Rewritable, it gives you the option to over-write it with something new when you are fed up with its old contents.
