its what you said, thats how you get rid of it theres no other way, bits and peices stay on your hard drive but if you want to get rid of internet history completly for maybe the past few days go on systems restore which will send your computer back as long as you want to go but warning on that is if youve installed programs on your computer recently you will lose it completly, if you want to convert your computer back to the very beginning you do systems recovery which will go back to when you first got your pc, but what you said its how you get rid of internet history completley, if its porn dont worry it will erase it ok, i do it all the time after ive looked at porn, really only use systems restore if you have a virus that is crashing your system and if your computer is really screwed up use systems recovery

This is a well kept secret. There are many commercially available products available, but, I don't see anyone talking about how to accomplish this manually. I found this statement: While you use Internet Explorer for surfing, visited pages are saved on your hard drive so you can see them off line. Internet explorer generally puts these files in a folder named Temporary Internet Files. Internet Explorer is not perfect, so parts of files are left on your drive, not visible in the cache. There is no possibility to manually delete these files. This problem exists on every version of Internet Explorer.

It depends because certain browsers just delete it from their little cach history . BUT THE NEW internet explorer deletes it into teh garbage can then you permanently delete it form the computer. Try going to the control panel go to internet options you can search there or you can go to connections. But another thing that you can do is just double click the hardrive and search for where the browser stores all it browsing information .

got something to hide have we? no seriously the should be an option in your browser's options. Also its important to note that nothing is ever "permanently" deleted from a hard drive. Your hard disk's file system works in such a way that when something is deleted, it essentially moves down a level and is replaced by new data. If you seriously have something to hide (god forbid you arent under investigation lol) this data "can" with the right tools be resurrected even though to all intents and purposes it was deleted.

Hmmmm i wonder what this Q's is REALLY about! Lol "I'm learning ICT and i need to know how to access Internet history that's been deleted and delete it completely from the hardrive" Lol Dude that is such a lame excuse, There is NO Way a Q's like this would ever appear on a ICT Key Skills curriculum, But i really doubt any ones going to look into your hard drive, seriously. The most your parents would do is check your Internet, which is sI'mply to delete! and im assuming you already know how to do this,, Although i can give you an answer^ like the guy above has.. I really dont think you should attempt to delete your hidden files, unless you really know what your doing.

C:\Documents and Settings C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings Poke around in the above you should find the folders. if you believe the authorities are about to come around and seize your PC. and you are really concerned about something on your hard drive that you never want to be discovered then, just do a complete re- installation of Windows. Also look into " Partitioning Drives" just to make extra difficult for thing to be discovered C:\Documents and Settings

First of all, neither a new installation of windows, nor a system restore, deletes the files on your hard drive, but those directly related to windows. Now to your question: All depends on the browser you are using and operating system. If using XP and Firefox (I personally do not see a reason for using Explorer) is safe enough simply doing and clear private data and getting rid of all your rubbish. You are asking about the internet History, and that is just a History of places where you have been, this is different to cache files or cookies! Your cache files are web pages stored in your computer so next time you go again to the same time it loads faster. The history is just the addresses of the places you have visited; hence there are no pieces over there lying around your computer, just some files. You can clean up this files using the windows utility "disk clean up" or a third party one. however if you still want to go and look for the folder yourself, the first thing you have to do is enable the view for hidden files and folders and also selecting the option of view protected system file and folders -N.B. I am not responsible for any damage that your computer may suffer if you delete or change any of this files, this are system files and any change may harm your computer, so is wise create an image of your disk before or at least a recovery point- Then you have to go to your internet explorer folder and look for the history folder and delete the files and also your temp files and internet temp files, if you want to be absolutely sure. It's important to remind that on XP each user has different settings, folders and restrictions. So in order to do this you have to have administrator rights and you have to delete it for every user you want.
