How to play high end games on windows 7 running on a mac?
-
Well i partitioned my mac so it would run windows 7 as well. I saw my friend who also had windows 7 running on mac play games like oblivion ( yes i know, not very high end) and i am wondering how i can do that too. I have tried playing lower end games like minecraft but it was still laggy so im guessing some kind of program is needed ?

Answer:
There is no performance lag connected with a Mac booted to Windows. Did you install Windows on a Boot Camp partition and boot to it? You cannot play games in virtual machine mode. You also need powerful graphics for games. The minimum for the average game is 512 MB. For high-performance games, you need 1 GB of graphics, such as the Radeon HD6770M. You DO NOT "need to geta windows based device". Devices are not Windows-based by electronic design. You install Windows and boot to Windows to make a device run Windows. I just have to roll my eyes when the PC geeks say "Macs cannot run Windows correctly" out of one side of their mouths and "A Mac is just a PC with the Apple logo" out of the other side. If both of these statements were true, then it means no PC can run Windows correctly. What they lack in real computer knowledge, they make up in nonsense.

all macs are not the same. the performance of a game relies upon the power of the system. macs not only have to run the game, they also have to be able to run the translation layers for windows 7. in all likelihood, your friends mac has better hardware. with lesser hardware, your computer is going to struggle with any gaming, especially when running it thru a translation layer for windows 7. if you want to game, you need to geta windows based device, and you also need to make sure it has quality hardware (in particular cpu and gfx card).

As far as I'm concerned there's not actually any reason why you can't play a game within a virtual machine...but it's not going to give you the best performance. If you're using boot camp, you Mac is essentially a Windows PC so it all depends on your graphics card, RAM and processer. http://www.windowstomac.net
