How to dynamically load an image in Crystal 9?

How can I convert a high-resolution image into low-resolution (.jpg format)? Hi-res takes too long to load.?

    Load image in your editing software, select JPEG properties, select a lower resolution, default may be something like 85%--something like 50 or 60% and save it with a different name. Pull it back up to make sure you like the tradeoff between the smaller file size vs the image quality. I use GIMP, should handle whatever format you're using now and it'll convert. Very nice FREE program with plenty of options. Picasa from Google may be easier to use, not quite as many options.

use a photo editing software, re size the pic to a smaller format and save the picture in the new size

I recommend Paint Shop Pro. Get this at Staples and other retailers. Even an old version works great. The RESIZE function allows you to pick the Pixel width or height that you actually use on-line. Of course, for the web, you set it to 72 DPI. But it is the PIXEL width that you need. When you use the SAVE AS function, you can set the compression level. Yes, use jpg types. Of course, I recommend that you rename special sized and compressed images. Keep the original, in case you want a different size later. From a website perspective, Paint Shop Pro is much better then Photoshop, because it's units and file types match the way that you are going to use it. Photoshop is great for the printed arts.
