Why cant my computer see symbols?

when looking at blogs, or sites with symbols they just come out as a rectangle anyone know anything to solve this? thanks

Answer:
It means you don't support those characters and supporting fonts. The sites are probably using exotic fonts available on their computer so it looks right. There's a group of about 7 fonts that are pretty much universal. Courier, Arial, Times New Roman are the big three. If anything see if your browser can turn those sites using those fonts.
