How to copy only values in Excel?

Best ways to copy values into blank cells in Excel?

  • I am working on an Excel file, trying to data fill lines. So I have values in 6 columns (T - AB). If the rows underneath are blank, I want to copy that value into those blank rows. For example, if T2 is blank, I want to copy value from T1 into T2. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

  • Answer:

Give this a try: 1. Select the area 2. Press CTRL+G, click Special, and select Blanks 3. All the blank cells should be a darker shade except one. In that one cell, type = and the cell reference above it. For example, if the blank cell is T3, enter =T2, then press CTRL+ENTER (not just Enter).

There is a fill handle in the bottom right corner of your active cell. It's a small black square that sticks out a bit from the thick black border around your current cell. If you click on it and drag to consecutive cells, it will copy the data (text or numbers) into those cells. You can also use the fill handle to copy consecutive data. For example, let's say you want to have a column of cells with 1, 2, 3, etc. or dates (May 1, May 2, May 3, etc.). To do this, you enter the data into the first few cells, highlight the cells, then use the fill handle. Excel will figure out the pattern and continue it, filling in the cells with the consecutive data.
