How to change background after making a pic the background

  • well, i made a picture i took as my background put it doesn't cover the entire screen and i don't want to stretch or tile it so i centered it now, the empty space around the pic is black as that's what i set it to( i can only set it to a color) i want to, instead, change the part around my pic to something else, like an image or w/e on my comp, i have a background- vortex-which looks really nice, i was wondering about how i can place my pic on another image

This answer assumes you use Windows, if not then you should specify what operating system you use. These instructions will use Microsoft Paint since it comes free with Windows so you probably already have it. Open Microsoft Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint). Open the picture that you want BEHIND the picture you took (on the top click File -> Open, or drag the picture you want into Paint). Now, open another Microsoft Paint the same way you did before. This time open the picture you want on top (the one you took). Now on the top click Edit -> Select All. On the top again click Edit -> Copy. Now go back to the other Microsoft Paint you have open (the one with the Vortex image, or whatever you opened for the background). On the top of this one click Edit -> Paste. Now use the mouse to move the picture to the middle, or wherever you want it. Once you click outside of the picture that you just pasted you won't be able to move it anymore. When you get it where you want it you need to save it. On the top click File -> Save As... IMPORTANT: Make sure you click "Save As..." and not "Save" or you'll lose the original picture. On the bottom of the window that comes up make sure that "Save as type" is set to "JPEG". Now save the picture wherever you want to, I would recommend "My Pictures". Now it's safe to close both Microsoft Paints you have open and you can change your background to the picture you just made. Hope this works for you, good luck.
