I need help with resume for sales associate?

Help with finding right resume' and downloading.?

  • Hello, I am new to computers and have been a stay at home mother for the last 16 years, and am now really wanting to find a job. I have discovered that each job I am interested in filling out an application for, requires I also send a resume' with the application. I just got a used computer, but do not really know how to download a resume' and then send it with the application. Also needing advice on what to put in the space for employment up to present as I have not been in the job market for years, however, have volunteered with two organizations but did not get paid. I need a simple application, but also want to tell them a little about myself and what I have to offer their company. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really do need to find a job. Thank you for your assistance. I am looking for a job in sales, as that is what I am great at and also enjoy!

Hi Mac and Mel, This is a tough time to get back into the job market but it sounds like you are preparing yourself with the right steps and questions. First, attaching your resume isn't very hard. If you have completed an online application or something, there is a point where you can type in a resume online (the long way) or you can just send the one you already have saved on your computer (the short way). Usually that it saved in your My Documents folder or on your Desktop. To attach it, hit the Browse button and it adjust the top field window to say the folder where you know your resume is on your computer. So it should say My Documents in the window, then look below that window for the name of your resume. Click on your resume and then the words Attach or Finish or Complete. Second, I have worked as a volunteer coordinator and a manager. Volunteer work can be a great preparation. You should only identify the most relevant volunteer positions to sales that you have held in the past five years. Include them on your resume with a title, dates worked and other info. It should look the same as your other positions. In the work description, indicate you were a volunteer and the duties/accomplishments just like a paid position. If you are going to use your volunteer roles on your resume, make sure that the volunteer coordinator or other staff members remember you well and will provide a reference if called. Lastly, go online a look up some samples of sales resumes. Each industry has a resume style that is more common and preferred by hiring managers. You should never apply for a position with your resume without including a cover letter. A well-written, brief resume will be a place to shine and tie together your work, volunteering and at-home life. Though you were out of the workforce for a while, you never stopped being a consumer. Best of luck to you!
