What Is The Minecraft?

Minecraft! I seriously don't know what to do?

  • Okay, so I just recently got a new computer, and every time I try to log in to minecraft, it says "cannot connect to minecraft.net". It also won't let me click on "play offline" and right under the 'play offline' button, it says "not downloaded". The server isn't down, because my brother can get on minecraft on his computer. We share the same account, so that's not the problem, either. I've deleted the .minecraft folder and minecraft itself, I have re-downloaded it, I have the latest version of java, I've allowed minecraft and java to come through the firewall, so what could it be? I don't understand, at all. None of the answers I've gotten so far have helped. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, if that tells you anything. Help?

  • Answer:

If Minecraft is complaining that it is "not downloaded", that means the files it downloads then stores in the .minecraft folder are missing. (The minecraft EXE just downloads and launches the actual game, which is made up of minecraft.jar and several other files. These files are stored in the .minecraft folder.) You might have a network connection problem from what it sounds like, but I don't have enough information to say for sure that is the problem.
