How to convert AVI to DVD on Mac?

.avi to a dvd on mac?

  • Okay so when burning a DVD (to be played in a stand alone DVD player) should I convert the files to .mpg or leave them as .avi? I have tried both but each time, it says error. Seriously I never would have thought burning a DVD on a mac would be this miserable. I guess I'm just an idiot. DVD burning software for mac? Recommendations? (not willing to pay).

  • Answer:

firstly to burn a DVD movie from your computer use DVD-R (blank DVD discs) second use a NERO burning software such as nero vision for burning files .VOB or mpeg2 type or nero express for DATA DVD's such as .avi, xvid, divx. If your DVD player is DiVX compatible there is no need to convert them to .VOB or mpeg2, your DVD player should be able to read and play it as is but understand that this is a smaller file type hence the wide screen or half screen picture. Now in terms of converting your file you will only need to do this if your player only plays .VOB or mpeg2 files hence you should use a converter, a good example is OJOSOFT video converter or TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER. I would suggest you check out this site www.thepiratebay.org and look for those converter software. Hope that helps.
