I have a mac and my mom has a pc i can video conference with her but how do i get sound?

I cannot figure out how to get the microphone to work

Answer:
Make sure its plugged in the appropite ports...(a.k.a usualy the red port) and make sure mic is enabled under sound managment/audio devices.
